Gucci
Purse… Real or Fake?

Gucci
purses, designer accessories, status quo for those
with money and those who pretend like they do.
Where did it all start? Via Condotti, Rome was
home to the first shop opened in 1938 by Guccio
Gucci. By 1947 Guccio had brought us the
instantaneously recognizable Gucci icon. The
leather bag with the bamboo handle. Popularity
rose during the 1960's, when Hollywood stars such
as Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn made Gucci Chic.
Gucci also made front-page news when Jackie
Kennedy was photographed with the handbag that
became known as the "Jackie O."
Gucci purses today are found for sale alongside
Kate Spade, Burberry, and Prada, other well-known
designer accessory names, in high-end fashion
stores like Neiman Marcus, and can sell from
anywhere between $350.00 to $4,800.00. However, if
you are in the market for vintage Gucci purses,
like classic vintage bamboo and leather braid
handbags, you can always find an online auction.
High end too steep, afraid of auctions, there is
always a knock-off. Gucci purses, along with other
well-known brand names have become known for
knock-off’s. In fact, knock-off purses are even
more popular than the originals. According to
federal agents, knock-off products have become a
60 billion-dollar a year market. Big money made
easily. These fakes are even bigger than drugs.
They can be found anywhere from flea markets, to
upscale boutiques. If you want an authentic Gucci
make sure the label is on it. Real or fake it's
all in the label.
